November 19, 2009 – Wakefield, RI – The Education Exchange, a non-profit provider of adult education, job skills training, and community enrichment programs, has announced that Louise Finan will serve as Student Services Coordinator for the adult literacy, GED preparation, and computer training programs. In addition to her role as Student Services Coordinator, Ms. Finan will continue to coordinate GED Testing for the Education Exchange.
Ms. Finan will draw on her extensive experience in education, customer service, student mentoring, and program development to build and cultivate relationships with students, from registration through graduation. By maintaining regular communication with students, Ms. Finan will help them resolve issues and overcome barriers to success, in the classroom and beyond. Ms. Finan will also develop and implement proactive outreach strategies, retention services, and career counseling initiatives.
Prior to joining the Education Exchange, Ms. Finan served as a Teacher Assistant for the South Kingstown School Department and held various leadership and mentoring roles for the Girl Scouts of Rhode Island. In addition to counseling and mentoring teens, Ms. Finan recruited and retained adult troop leaders and organized community-wide development and leadership programs. Previously, Ms. Finan was a Referral Marketing-Wellness Sales Representative for Melaleuca, Inc. and a Provider Relations Representative for United Health Plan, delivering personalized customer service with a focus on prompt issue resolution. Ms. Finan earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from Providence College and a Masters of Business Administration in Management from the University of Rhode Island.
Ms. Finan will play a key role in attracting and retaining students for the Education Exchange core programs, including adult literacy, GED preparation and testing, and classes for English Language Learners. She will also be an integral part of Education Exchange efforts to meet the evolving needs of workers and businesses with computer classes, Microsoft Certification, and job skills training programs.
